If you have gone looking for SpotGuesser Premium, here is the short answer: there isn't one. As of October 2026 there is no subscription, no paid tier, no ads to pay to remove, and nothing to sign up for. Every feature on this page is one that everyone gets, from the first time they play.

That still leaves a fair question: what do you actually get, and what is it worth? Here is the full list.

The daily match

Every day brings five football questions, the same for everyone: players, stadiums, famous matches, World Cups, transfers, history. You answer each one by dropping a pin on a globe, and the closer you land, the more of the 100 points you keep. There is no clock, so you can take as long as you like.

The part people tend to value most comes after each guess. You see the right place, how far off you were and a short story behind the answer: why a striker was born in a city he never played for, or where a final was won and how. Five minutes a day, and you come away knowing something you didn't.

Past games

Missed a day? Every match since the first one, on 29 September 2026, stays in Past games, and you can play any of them, as many as you like, whenever you like. Replaying an old match doesn't touch your streak, so it is there for catching up and practising, not for patching a gap.

Streaks, and your score against everyone

Play on the day and your streak grows; the game keeps your current run and your best. When you finish, you see where your score sits among everyone who played the same five questions, once enough people have finished to make it fair, and you can widen the chart to the whole month or the whole year.

Challenges for up to eight

This is the feature you would most expect to find behind a paywall. Create a challenge, add up to seven friends' names, and send them the link. Nobody needs an account or an app. Each of them plays that day's match whenever they have five minutes, until the challenge closes at the end of the day.

Once you have played, you see the standings and, as your friends finish, who made the closest guess and the biggest miss, with every player's pin on a map for each question. When it is over, Rematch sets up the next one, and My challenges keeps track of every challenge you have made or joined.

Sharing without spoilers

When you finish, Share my score sends your score and the date, with a "Can you do better?" and a link. Whoever opens the link sees your score and a coloured square for each question, from green for a great guess through amber and red to grey for a big miss, and one button to play the same five questions. Not a single answer is given away, so you can post it in a group chat on the day without spoiling it for anyone.

Football stories

The Football stories section is free to read too: articles about players, stadiums, clubs and competitions, each with a map of the places behind it. Many of them are about the kind of thing SpotGuesser asks.

A say in what comes next

Football is the first topic, not the only one planned. The homepage has a vote for the topic you would play every day, from History and Landmarks to Movies, Music, Formula 1 and Food, and the favourite gets built next. Voting is free as well, and you can change your mind.

No ads, no account: the value, and the trade-off

Some other football map games pay their way with ads, and charge, or plan to charge, to remove them. Ballocate shows ads between rounds and on its results screen, and its FAQ describes Premium as "an upcoming paid option that removes all ads". PlayPinDrop shows a few ads outside its rounds and sells an ad-free subscription for $1.99 a month or $17.99 a year. SpotGuesser has no ads to remove.

There is no account either: no email, no password, nothing to sign up for. Your scores, your streak and your challenges are kept in your browser. That is the one trade-off worth knowing about: they belong to the browser you play in. Switch to a new phone, or clear your browser's data, and your streak starts again from zero. Play on the same browser and it is all there tomorrow.

So what is it worth?

Everything here, the daily match, the archive, the streaks, the comparisons, challenges for eight and the stories behind every answer, costs nothing. There is no premium version because there is nothing held back for one.

Play today's match, or challenge your friends and see who knows their football.
